"In 1895, Masataka Taketsuru the father of Japanese Whisky was born in the small town of Takehara, Japan. At the time, Masataka's family owned a sake brewery, and in preparing to carry on the family trade, Masataka studied chemistry and biology at Osaka Technical High School. After graduating high school, Masataka showed more interest in whisky than in sake and in 1918, he enrolled at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, becoming the first Japanese ever to study the art of whisky-making. While in Scotland, Masataka took chemistry courses during the day while apprenticing at distilleries at night, learning to distill and blend whisky first-hand at some of Scotland's most prestigious distilleries. In 1920, Masataka returned to Japan, and within the decade, had produced the country's first single malt whisky. In 1934, Masataka moved to the town of Yoichi and opened the doors to Nikka Whisky Co. In 1960, as the Yoichi Distillery was reaching capacity, Masataka began searching for another suitable location in Japan to open a second distillery. Following a three-year search, Masataka found a wide forest valley at the junction of the Hirosegawa and Nikkawagawa rivers. The localized humidity from the rivers and surrounding hills, together with the quality of water from Nikkawagawa River, created the perfect location for a second distillery, which he named Miyagikyo. Nikka's Coffey Gin has an innate complexity achieved through the perfect harmony between 11 selected botanicals and the silky texture of Coffey distillates. The result is a beautiful spirit with bright and zesty aromas originating from four types of Japanese citrus: Yuzu, Kabosu, Amanatsu and Shequasar, complimenting the signature gin botanicals like juniper berries, angelica, coriander, lemon and orange peels.

Born in December 1839, William Grant became a cattle herder at the age of 7 in order to supplement his family's income. As a teenager, Grant apprenticed as a cobbler and a clerk, and in 1866, he joined Mortlach Distillery as a bookkeeper. For the next two decades, Grant managed the affairs at the distillery, while secretly learning the art of distillation. In 1886, he resigned from his position as distillery manager and, together with his seven sons, two daughters and one sporadically working stonemason, built his family distillery in Scotland. Over a century later, Charles Gordon, Grant's great-grandson and successor at William Grant & Sons, purchased two unusual and incredibly rare stills at auction a Carter-Head Still (constructed in 1948, there are only a few in the entire world) and a dusty 19th-century Bennett. Although he didnt find a use for these stills initially, more than twenty years later he enlisted the help of master distiller and Gin scientist Lesley Gracie to assist in his quest to create something extraordinary from the stills. Finally, in 1999, Gordon and Gracie found the perfect combination and launched Hendrick's Gin. Hendrick's Gin is made in small batches of 500-liters or less, with both the Bennett and Carter-Head stills working their magic on Hendrick's unique mix of botanicals, which include yarrow, elderflower, juniper, angelica root, orange peel, caraway, coriander, chamomile, cubeb berry, orris root and lemon. After distillation, Hendrick's Gin is infused with Bulgarian Rosa Damascena and specially selected cucumbers an odd combination which produces miraculous results. Hendrick's Midsummer Solstice is a limited edition Gin inspired by the Midsummer Solstice blooms, which gives Hendrick's signature house blend a distinctive floral take. The result is a captivating floral Gin that blooms onto the palate in a harmony of lightness and complexity. An alluring floral twist on Hendrick's hallmark taste. This Gin was created by Master Distiller Lesley Gracie at a place of experimental botanic alchemy at the Hendrick's Gin Palace in Scotland.a place of experimental botanic alchemy at the. As the first expression from her Cabinet of Curiosities collection, this Gin is a tribute to the sensory powers of the Midsummer Solstice, when botanicals are said to be at their most powerful. Inspired by the mysterious and ephemeral delights of floral blooms during the summer solstice.

Glendalough Rose Gin

The 18th & 19th centuries there were the glory days of the Irish whiskey industry, with over 200 licensed distilleries in all of Ireland. There were also countless unlicensed distilleries at the time, producing diverse styles of poitn, whiskey, gin, and even absinthe. But through a series of unfortunate events, the Irish whiskey industry dried to a trickle in the 1970s. Glendalough Distillery is part of a revival of this Irish heritage. Their philosophy is "to make innovative spirits while staying true to the tradition and heritage of our ancestors." Glendalough started out making poitn the traditional Irish distillate made in small pot stills. From there they seamlessly transitioned to whiskey production, and most recently, seasonal, wild botanical gins. All of their production is handmade. This very special, small-batch Gin takes the Wild Gin recipe and redistills it with extra fruit, flowers, spices and an abundance of fresh rose petals.Three varieties of rose are used including the rare and elusive Wild Rose from the Wicklow mountains, large fragrant Heritage Roses and the ancient prized Damask Rose. Combined these roses create a naturally pink, very floral gin. The delicate nature of petals requires a more gentle, slower distillation than the wild botanical gin. Vapor distillation is more efficient in extracting the essential oils and flavors. After distillation, the gin is further infused with even more roses to deepen the flavors and create a beautiful pink hue. Floral, fragrant and flavorful, this unique gin is the product of endless experimentation with plants, fruit, spices, and flowers.

Journeyman Bilberry Black Hearts Gin

The Featherbone Factory built by E.K. Warren in the 19th century to manufacture women's corsets sits on the banks of Lake Michigan just across the Indiana border in Three Oaks, Michigan. As the factory changed hands in the twentieth century, it became a production site for everything from buggy whips to pickles. Today, it's home to Journeyman Distillery and Bill Welter, Journeyman's master distiller. Welter, who was formerly a banker in Indiana, began his journey when his family business was sold in 2006. He moved to Scotland, where he began to learn the art of craft distillation from Greg Ramsay (master distiller at Nant Distillery) and Bill Lark (master distiller at Lark Distillery). After returning to the United States, Welter spent time producing and resting whiskey using a prominent organic & kosher distiller's facility in Chicago before opening the doors of his own distillery in Three Oaks with the intention to offer grain-to-glass spirits from day one/drop one. This Bilberry Black Hearts Gin is aptly named after the famed Bilberry, cousin to the huckleberry & blueberry. The Bilberry is dark in color and was given the nickname Black Heart in 19th century England. This gin has traditional gin botanicals like juniper, lemon, bitter orange, cinnamon, coriander, anise, angelica, and orris root to produce a uniquely American Style Gin. Double-distilled from 100% organic Michigan wheat and 9 botanicals: Juniper, Bilberry, Lemon, Bitter Orange, Cinnamon, Coriander, Anise, Angelica, Orris.

Elephant Gin Elephant Strength

Elephant Gin

Gin

Elephant Gin produces award-winning handcrafted premium gin, made with rare African botanicals. Their story began in South Africa, but Elephant Gin is handmade in Germany. Every ingredient is hand-selected, each bottle custom-made, with hand-written labels. Production is limited to small batches. This custom made artisan gem is in collaboration with Africa for Africa, a charitable organization from the hearts and minds of a handful of German enthusiasts who donate 15% of all their profits to help save the endangered African elephants. This Elephant Strength gin is a take on the "navy strength" the Royal English Navy used. They would put their Navy Strength gin to the test by lighting it with gunpowder. If the gin had at least 114 proof, it survived the test and was deemed "navy strength." Elephant Strength is stronger and richer than the original award-winning Elephant London Dry Gin. Its high strength comes with twice the amount of botanicals featuring the extraordinary African buchu, sweet citrus peel and herbaceous mountain pine. The design of the bottle takes inspiration from naval origins featuring navy blue accents, an inviting map of the ocean, and a rope-like string with a charming miniature anchor. The Elephant Strength labels carry the names of the Magnificent Seven: the strongest and most impressive elephants known to Kruger National Park, South Africa, these precious bull elephants all bore tusks weighing more than 50kg each. Intense and full-bodied with fresh aromas, this gin is superb in cocktails.
