Nankai Gold Premium Blended Shochu Finished in Oak Casks Japanese Whiskey

Nankai Japanese Whiskey

750 ml | 43% ABV
Whiskey | Japanese

Premium Blended Shochu Finished in Oak Casks Exclusively From Amami Island, Japan

An exceptional blend of the finest expressions of matured and cask-aged kokuto, or “black sugar,” shochu from our distillery on Amami Island, Japan.

Elegantly smooth and drinkable, Nankai Gold offers remarkable layers of fruit, floral, and malty aromas with gentle notes of raisins, chocolates and honey.

Enjoy this rare and exquisite spirit neat or on the rocks.

Nankai Gold took home the top prize for the shochu category and won the rare and coveted Master Medal.

Nankai Gold is a 43% ABV blend of artisan black sugar shochus single-distilled from black sugar (80%) and rice (20%).

It is produced exclusively by our distillery on Amami Island, Japan.

Each shochu in the blend is handcrafted from only four natural ingredients: sugarcane, rice, koji yeast, and water.

A portion of our blend is single-distilled via vacuum distillation to create a smooth and delicious finish.

Vacuum stills lower the boiling point of alcohol by half, resulting in a softer, gentler distillation.

Our artisans masterfully finish our select shochus in American white oak and French Limousin casks. Each shochu is aged up to 5 years before being blended into Nankai Gold.

The result is a unique and complex experience worthy of your attention.

Nankai Gold is a handcrafted, cask-aged shochu, a traditional Japanese distilled spirit.

Unlike whiskey, shochu uniquely uses “koji” in the fermentation process. shochu is also single-distilled to preserve the luscious flavors and aromas of the source grain.

However, if you’re a fan of Japanese whiskeys, you will love how the beauty of shochu and whiskey making are elegantly combined into one gorgeous bottle.

Labiette Castille Bas Armagnac VSOP

French Cider

750 ml | 40% ABV
Brandy

RECENT AWARDS: USA Spirits Ratings 2022 - Silver 86 points

The name Labiette Castille comes from two specific localities belonging to the village of Sorbets (Gers, France) that are called: “Labiette” on the western part of the vineyards, and “Castille”, to the east. Our logotype represents a Knight of the King, paying tribute to the most famous musketeer D’Artagnan.

Our house was founded in the late 19th century by a native family of Sorbets and is owned by the Lesgourgues family since the mid-1970’s.

Grapes
The house uses the main grape varieties coming from the vineyard located in the Bas Armagnac. Predominantly Baco 22A and Ugni Blanc, and secondary Colombard and Folle Blanche.

Wines
The white wines obtained offers good acidity and low alcohol content that are suitable for traditional distillation.

Distilling
The wines are distilled in a continuous “Armagnacais” column still: this is the perfect way for distilling our wines in Armagnac, hence capturing most of the flavors contained in the wines. Each grape varietal is distilled separately, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the autumn season until Christmas time.

The freshly “brandy” comes out from the column still at around 60% alcohol.

Aging
The “brandies” are then stored in French oak barrels (430L each).
The Labiette Castille Armagnacs age in 100% local Gascony oak. These casks will fit best our Armagnacs, giving them time to grow and to capture the genuine flavors and tannins from the oak. Annually, the cask will lose about 3% of evaporation. This qualitative phenomenon is known as “Angel’s share” (la Part des Anges in French).

Blending
Our cellar master, with the members of the Lesgourgues family, oversees the blending (“assemblage”) choosing the different eaux-de-vie that will be making the future Armagnac.
This blending mission is critical in the house’s capacity to create the most exquisite yet singular Armagnacs.

Bottling
All of our Armagnacs are progressively reduced in alcohol, and most of them are bottled at 40% alc after a non-chilled filtration.

Labiette Castille Bas Armagnac VSOP

This Armagnac is produced in the most coveted region of Bas Armagnac. The aromas display a superb balance between vanilla, dried fruit, and oak. Savor the luscious flavors of oakiness, spice and candied prune.  The Labiette Castille Bas Armagnac VSOP is a cellar master blend of 15 premium brandies; each brandy in the blend is aged from 6 to 10 years in Gascony oak casks

Serve as an aperitif before a meal - neat on ice or slightly chilled. Also, use in premium craft cocktails.

Produced on the famed estate of Chateau de Laubade, the largest and most-awarded family Armagnac estate in France, this Armagnac is fully traceable from vineyard to bottle.  All four varieties of grapes used in its production - Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, Baco and Colombard - are grown, vinified, aged, and blended on the 260-acre estate under the watchful eyes of the Lesgourgues family who have owned the estate since 1974.

Highland Park Viking Heart 15 years Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Highland Park

700 ml | 44% ABV
Whiskey | Scotch

This is a wonderfully rich and complex single malt. Opening with rich and spicy aromas of crème brulee, heather honey and crumbled cinnamon, intensely fruity notes follow - fresh pineapple dressed with a scattering of sun-kissed lemon zest. There’s a hint of freshly-baked sponge cake too, warm from the oven, and you’ll find cinnamon again, but toasted shards this time. Citrus and vanilla notes linger in the aromatic waves of peat smoke.

To create 15 Year Old Viking Heart, Gordon Motion, our Master Whisky Maker, selected predominantly sherry seasoned European oak casks to deliver warm, spicy notes and sherry seasoned American oak casks to provide a balance of sweet vanilla. Expertly adding just a few refill casks to soften and smooth the flavours, Gordon chose to bottle at 44% ABV to allow the whisky’s vibrant fruitiness and distinctive heathery peat smoke to shine through.

Why a ceramic decanter? Rewind a century or two and our whisky would have been stored in earthenware vessels. Inspired by examples found at our distillery in Orkney, we asked Wade Ceramics if they could work with us to create a modern version. Established in 1810 and based in Stoke-on-Trent in England (known globally as the traditional home of ceramics) Wade share our commitment to environmental responsibility, focusing on sustainable manufacturing and using locally sourced raw materials. The lead-free porcelain decanter is 100% food safe, glazed inside and out, and embossed with the lion and serpent design that appears on many of our glass bottles. Look closely at the back of the bottle and you’ll find the heart motif that inspired this whisky’s name.

We’ve been crafting our award-winning whisky at the Highland Park Distillery in Kirkwall, Orkney, since 1798. Age, experience and respect for tradition may define our whisky, but it’s Orkney that sets it apart. Something magic happens here and the result is the wild harmony of flavours found in our whisky.

J Lohr Paso Robles Cuvee Pom 2017 Red Wine

J Lohr Wine

750 ml | 14.9% ABV
Wine | Red

The 2017 J. Lohr Cuvée POM is effusive with aromas of blueberry, marionberry, lilac, and cocoa powder. Vibrant acidity and persistent fresh berry notes resonate on the palate, leaving an angular structure sure to have lengthy cellar potential. With Paso Robles Merlot at its core, this lush wine recalls many of the best wines of Pomerol.

VINTAGE

Our J. Lohr Paso Robles vineyards emerged from a 5-year drought with remarkable quality in the 2017 vintage. The restorative rainfall exceeded the 20-year average by more than 25% in the appellation. Budbreak occurred in our Merlot block 5 at the Creston Vineyard during the first week of April. Bloom was also slightly delayed as we flowered at the end of the third week of May. An extreme heat event occurred in early September, which brought temperatures as high as 115 degrees along the California’s coast. Our Merlot crop was several weeks away from harvest and came through the heat spike unharmed. In this vintage we saw the highest level of flavor ripeness since the string of three great vintages from ‘12 to ‘14.

CUVÉE POM

Inspiration for J. Lohr Cuvée POM comes from the Grand Cru wines of Pomerol on Bordeaux’s famed Right Bank. These legendary wines are traditionally composed of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with sparse additions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. At J. Lohr, our winemaking team is given the freedom to emulate these great wines through the prism of our world-class Paso Robles fruit.
