Ndurra Peated Whisky Cask Finish draws its inspiration from the historic traditions of whisky making at The Glenlivet, where peat smoke was originally used to dry the malted barley. But this is a contemporary take on a traditional flavor. The origin of this distinctive flavor comes not from the malting process but instead through maturation. The matured whisky is finished in casks that have previously held heavily peated Scotch whisky. This creates a gentle, aromatic smokiness, a completely new flavor for The Glenlivet but married together with the smooth fruitiness of our house style.

In 1263, Colin of Kintail, Chief of the Clan Mackenzie, took a bold decision to stand up and be counted, and felled a charging stag which attacked King Alexander III of Scotland. In return for saving his life, the grateful King gifted the 12-pointed Royal Stag emblem to the Mackenzie Clan as a reward. When descendants of the Mackenzie Clan took over the ownership of The Dalmore distillery in 1867, they continued to honour this brave act and proudly put the 12-pointed Royal Stag on the bottle. To this day, the Stag still adorns each and every bottle of The Dalmore.

To celebrate the pioneering and innovative values of the Mackenzie Clan, our Master Distiller has painstakingly created the only single malt in the world to unite a unique six cask finish for one outstanding achievement. Spirits matured in ex-bourbon casks, Matusalem oloroso sherry butts, Madeira barrels, Marsala casks, Port pipes and Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques are combined in perfect harmony to create a uniquely complex, yet smooth single malt. An evolution of The Dalmore house style, this 18 year old expression takes on bolder notes becoming a robust and formidable

Matured initially for 14 years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, the spirit is then transferred to 30 year old Matusalem oloroso sherry butts for a further four years. These sherry butts from the world renowned sherry house Gonzalez Byass are selected exclusively for The Dalmore.

The character and complexity of The Dalmore 15 are acquired during this unique cask journey. The spirit is finally reunited in an upstanding sherry butt, allowing the flavours to marry.

At a time when it was standard to mature whisky for six years, Andrew Mackenzie demonstrated his pioneering character by being one of the first to double the maturation period. His boldness truly paid off, The Dalmore 12 year stands apart as an exceptional whisky, as much today as it did in the 19th century.

Matured for an initial nine years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, the spirit is then divided for its final flourish. One half remains in the bourbon barrels, while the other is transferred to 30 year old Gonzalez Byass Matusalem oloroso sherry butts before they are reunited to create this phenomenal whisky.

Pusser's highly awarded Gunpowder Proof is a traditional Royal Navy style rum produced at original Admiralty strength in accordance with the Admiralty's blending recipe last used when the Royal Navy discontinued its daily ration on 31 July 1970 (109 Proof). Before the invention of the hydrometer, the ship's purser shutdown claims of watering down the sailors daily tot by mixing a few grains of gunpowder to the rum to see if it would burn. If the mixture ignited, the rum was at proof. If it didnt, the purser might find himself tossed to sea.

Blending five of our most precious signature single malt Scotch whiskies from Speyside, the rich and full-bodied flavour of this blended malt whisky reflects the true diversity within the region. Less than 1% of the millions of casks within the Chivas inventory were used to create Chivas Ultis. Each cask was individually hand-selected and nosed to ensure the highest quality within this blend.

TASTING NOTES
