Bourbon may be our first love here at Black Button Distilling, but gin is a close second! So much so that we have two of the five Gin Guild members outside of the United Kingdom right here at our distillery. Started in London in the 1600s, the Gin Guild promotes and encourages commitment to excellence in gin distillation. 

Starting with an ultra-refined wheat-based spirit and infusing an alluring blend of botanicals, creates an exotic citrus experience that will have you coming back for more. Our Citrus Forward Gin can capture the hearts of the strongest gin critics, even those that are sure gin is just not their spirit. 

Named “The Official Gin of Summer” by Food and Beverage Magazine, the rich and juicy orange delivers a bold fruit taste and is a perfect match for the New York State Cascade hops and delicate notes of juniper. Citrus Forward will add a unique character to any cocktail.

If you have never been a fan of the strong ‘tree’ flavor of gin, we encourage you to give gin another chance! It will put a twist on a classic Gin and Tonic, but is refined and smooth enough to be used in a Dry Gin Martini. The Black Button Team suggests using Citrus Forward in a classic Bee’s Knees cocktail; just add lemon juice and honey syrup (1:1 honey to boiling water), shake with ice and pour — perfect for porch sipping on a hot summer day.

Black Button Distilling is a true testament to all that New York State has to offer. Our Four Grain Straight Bourbon Whiskey offers a unique character that represents our locally grown grains, while being approachable for all bourbon lovers. As a New York State farm distiller, we use only the finest corn, wheat, rye and malted barley —each sourced just a short drive from our distillery. We don’t just call ourselves a farm distillery, we get our hands dirty to earn that name. 

In 2018 Black Button purchased a farm, not only to start producing juniper and other botanicals for our gin, but to grow the oak to make our own barrels. To accomplish this, we will be using the beautiful white oaks already on the property, as well as planting new saplings. From wood, to grain, to your glass, this bourbon is Black Button. Our mash bill takes its time aging, waiting patiently for our distillers to taste the unique Black Button character in every sip. The Black Button Team suggests enjoying it neat, but add a little New York State pride to your classic Old Fashioned and you won’t be disappointed.

At Black Button Distilling, we believe that Bourbon is an even better match for cream than Irish Whiskey and we encourage you to see for yourself. Our Bourbon Cream is a love letter to New York State agriculture and dairy. Our small-batch bourbon meets farm fresh New York State cream and creates a warmer, more luxurious experience than an Irish Cream can. Trust us! 

Ultra-pasteurized, shelf stable up to a year and no need to refrigerate, this spirit just gives you even more reasons to add it to your bar collection. Bourbon Cream is delicious on its own or in any number of cocktails. Start your day with a Morning Cure by adding it to your favorite coffee. The moment you pour Black Button Single Barrel Finished in Port Casks, you’ll notice its extremely deep color and you're instantly made aware that this is a finished bourbon. The resulting sip is very complex yet unfortunately also flawed. While the nose kicks things off with rich complex flavors and the palate is full of spice (almost to a fault), the finish is tannic and dry, ending what could have been a great sip on a disappointing note. That said, if you can look past the finish, this is one of the more complex port finished bourbons I’ve encountered, and also one of the few cask strength ones at that.
